China 24 访谈食品安全治理协同创新中心研究员孙娟娟

近日,我中心研究员孙娟娟接受China 24访谈,讲述上海食品安全条例。

Presenter: Let’s welcome Dr. SUN Juanjuan from Center for Coordination and Innovation of Food Safety Governance, Renmin University of China. Now we’re talking about there are reputating brands are fined by local government, and they are not immune fromfood safety problems, how hard it is to tackle this problem?

 

SUN Juanjuan: For food safety,it is certain that food safety is priority for food companies, no matter it isbig or small. But it is also true that for many people, food is more thansomething to eat. For example, having a small restaurant can be a veryessential way for certain people to earn a life. Also, for my opinion,personally I think the small food business plays an important role to supportlocal food supply and traditional food supply, and thus keep on the localspecialty. And this is the difficulties for local government to balance thedifferent interests, among the economic development, local life and etc., tofigure out a right environment for the small food operators.

 

Presenter: Shanghai has newrules to regulate online food, how it is going to tackle this problem?

 

SUN Juanjuan: I can give twoexamples. The first one can be called co-regulation between the platform andlocal government by comparing the document through the database, to make surethe authenticity of the papers like licenses for food production and fooddistribution. The second one is the self-regulation at the side of platformwhich can take the samples of online foods to make sure the compliance of theseproducts according to food safety requirements.
